An advanced and distributed control architecture based on intelligent agents and neural networks

A new layered architecture for the implementation of intelligent distributed control systems is proposed. The proposed architecture distinguishes four layers in a distributed control system. Upper layer consists of a digital control layer, where high level decisions are taken. This level is implemented by means of intelligent agents that carry out the discrete control functions, system supervision as well as diagnosis and fault tolerance. An embedded datalogger with a fast acquisition rate for in-vehicle testing and monitoring

A very compact and high performance datalogger for automotive in-vehicle testing is here described. The small logger dimensions and the availability of a CAN interface allows to easily implement multiple and distributed acquisition schemes, very challenging with traditional instrumentation. High acquisition rate, up to 100 Ksps/ch, and low cost was obtained through a very accurate hardware and software design.

The JYFLTRAP control and measurement system

The JYFLTRAP setup has been used for precision mass spectrometry since 2003. An essential part of this setup is the computer-controlled system consisting of software and hardware that is required to operate the instruments. The software has been developed solely at JYFL using LabVIEW and C++ development tools. The hardware consists of devices controlled using Control Area Network (CAN) field bus and Ethernet for communication purposes. LAN/GPIB-gateways, modular multichannel ISEG DC power supplies and WAGO I/O systems are also used.

This work pretends to develop a robot for vigilance tasks that are able to tolerate diverse kinds of attacks and be able to operate in environments with elevated electromagnetic noise, being even immune to sabotage provoked by means of high electromagnetic fields.
